They called us the Boat People

From Bao Le, on Sat, 04 Jan 2003 02:26:46 GMT (in response to: Vietnam Portfolio -- Children)

I was only six when my sister(4 1/2) and father escape from vietnam in a little boat with dozen of other. Hence the name "boat people". But that was only part of the journey, I can't even began to amagine the number of people who lost their life in their qwest for freedom. God bless their soul. But freedom is far from just a ride in the boat to the next land mass from Vietnam. We stay in a refugee camp in Hong Kong for over a year, and them another in Philipine. Both were not a cake walk. I was in Hong Kong "Chi-Ma-Wan" camp in the mid 81' building 2.
