I spent 31 Months in country 66-69 and I saw a lot of things that I really don't want anyone to ever see again, but the saddest thing was one fine summer evening at Nha Trang. I was pulling SDNCO at NTSAC HQ When we had an Alert. 7 Hueys were blown up next door to 5 Special Forces HQ and the sappers were spotted by Snoopy running from the area. This a "Free Frire Zone" but Snoopy was required to contact the ARVN HQ at Nha Trang to fire anywhere near the city. I heard them ask permission to fire and the response was "are you being fired on? Snoopy Neg. ARVN HQ Do not fire unless being fired on. 5 Men running away in the middle of the night in a "Free Fire Zone" "They may just be Farmers". For those of us who fought and bled and the friends who gave their all remember "WE WUZ WINNIN WHEN I LEFT!"
