I'm forced to wonder how you think what happened to your father somehow excuses what the original poster claimed some other American soldiers did? Surely, in each case, the people perpetrating these outrages should be judged upon the merits (or otherwise) of what they did. The American soldiers for raping the Vietnamese woman. The NLF/PAVN soldiers for doing what they did to your father.
However, what each group of soldiers did, does not excuse their actions. It might help to explain it but it does not excuse it in the least.
