From Joshua Snyder, on Wed, 25 Feb 1998 23:37:36 GMT (in response to: WISH ALL VETS WERE KILLED)
The fact that many innocent people died in the Vietnam war does not give anyone the right to condemn the entire lot of veterans of that war. I am a college student, a son of a veteran, and a person who has studied the vietnam war through the stories of those who were there. The only true atrocity of the war was that many of our vets were dispicably shunned and hated when they returned. I hope that if I ever am put in that situation, (I am joining the army this summer) people will not condemn me. People condemn and fear what they don't understand, instead of acting with compassion. If any of you reading this is a Vietnam vet, I would like to say what you probably never heard when you came back to the states: WELCOME HOME. (also, i am interested in hearing any life experiences for a dissertation I am writing, especially if you were in the navy, MCB-74 seabees in 1966-68, and were stationed near the DMZ)
