I don't know if the death of anyone I fought with in Nam was worth it. But I believe from the bottom of my heart that the effort given by the marines that served under me is what makes America great. We had all prefered to be with our families at Home instead of seeing our friends and buddies blown to hell. We felt that we had a job to do and did our best to complete it. We fought and did the best we could to protect those fighting along side of us. We kicked butt and sometimes got our butts kicked and the result was that good people died. South Africa has had a number of people killed for no other reason that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sometimes Vietnam was like that. Other times you could not believe you lived through a fire fight or mortar attack.
