congratulations! you've hit the nail on the head. i was a marine grunt in 1969 and all i can say now is that it was almost 30 years ago-what does it matter now.

let's face it, we were kids who did what we thought we were supposed to do. i think we did it as well as the politicians would allow us to-but so what? it was war and war should be avoided when possible. this one could have been avoided many times but the politicians decided to fight it-so we did.

the war is over, the memorial is up for those who died. it's over. let's try very hard not to do it again.
