Don't know jack

From Matt Lundberg, on Sun, 17 Nov 1996 23:20:20 GMT (in response to: A just cause?)

Most of the men didnt go to Vietnam because they wanted to. My father was already in the navy when they were sent, he went there twice, not because he wanted to but because he was ordered to It was a sense of duty. That maybe something you know nothing about. I too, am a veteran, and i thank God that I never had to do what I was trained to do. I agree that war is stupid and should only be fought when our country is threatened. To fight so that others may be free is a noble cause. But that cause was twisted by a inept and corrupt Vietnamese govt. I think that whoever shot JFK shot the wrong person, they should've shot LBJ. He is the reason that there are over 52000 names on a wall in DC and millions of other men and their families have lost so much. I am thoroughly convinced that we never would've went to Vietnam if JFK would not have been killed. And if we did go, we would've kicked the living hell out of them. He knew what war was about there should never have been any Rules Of Engagement. Its a war you kill the other guy with whatever and wherever he shows his face. Men went to Vietnam because their country asked them to go, like it or not, they went.
