Remember when we arrived "in country" and were given those little cards that told us the do's and don'ts? We were guests of the people of Vietnam, and we were to win their hearts and minds? How many times did we do just the opposite? We were pissed off that we were there, so we took it out on the civilains. We turned them against us. This crap about " bad strategy" is stupid, and probably devised by rear echelon types or by the ARVN's-another reason why we lost the war. Strategy you say? What kind of planner of strategy would send a company of infantry to the field with a 2nd lieutenant for a CO? That lieutenant had no combat experience and had been in-country 2 weeks. I'll bet that other vets had similar experiences. You people who feel we lost because we used the wrong strategy are full of it. We lost because we fought an organization that was well motivated. That's the opposite of the ARVN's. I'd like to get my hands on the Vietnamese person who wrote that we lost because our government did not try hard enough..
