USA 'lost' the war because the war didn't last til the above mentioned year and there were still Vietnamese left alive til then. Remember the old adage "they're all VC"? Well, they weren't all VC, but there were lots of VC. If I was a VC I would have been one, too: but one can say that sort of thing about most anything.
