I think that is one of the best responses to give. I too am proud. Proud of you and all the men who were there. All those who survived and all of those who didn't. As for remembering, that is the way to honor and (like you said) cherish the memories of all that was given. Whether the war was right or wrong, it already happened. Now is the time to remember and not let everything that was lost (lives, hearts, youth, etc...)be lost for nothing. I was in the Air Force myself, I'm 25, and very proud of my country and of all the Vets. It's a shame that young people like me, those who were small children when this happened, can understand, empathize and be proud of all Vets. We do not judge and cast aside those who had the courage and pride to stand up and fight for their country. Yes, war is bad, however, if it weren't for our military, what kind of country do you think we'd be? Surely not the kind for free speech. Isn't it weird that a younger generation seems to have the right values? Those who turned their backs and treated Vets as low lifes, should be ashamed, but by the things they've done and the ignorance they've shown, we know THAT's not going to happen. Thank you and Welcome Home to all of you. Men like you are what makes me proud to be an American.
