Military

child of a veteran

From Tim Whittaeker, on Thu, 10 Apr 1997 00:36:59 GMT

I am the youngest child of four. My father served two years and one month in vietnam. He was a river rat, patrolling up and down the rivers risking his life for this country. Growing up in a home with a vet was hard for me to understand as a child why he was the way he was. Not until I started studying about the war did I understand all his angers and emotions. These pictures can help a person understand what they had to live with while they were over there risking their necks. I don't agree with the war but it is something I can never change. I am very thankful that he survived or I would not be here. My heart goes out to anyone who lost sombody in the war for I know it must hurt. I didn't loose my father to the reeper but I lost him to the strains and emotions the war put on him. He (my father, Glen Whitteaker,Sr.) served 21 years with the Navy and loved every minute of it. Please continue to do the good work and try to help people understand. To who ever said all vets should have been killed,YOU CAN KISS MY ASS! It's people like you that make this world the way it is. Godbless all the vets.
