James My comment about the movies is this. I will not tell you the the things depicted, especially in Platoon didn't happen. They all did but not at one time, not in one palce and not in one platoon. For time sake, they only have you for two hours, things have to be compressed in the movies. So it makes things look much worse than they realy were. Some one said " War is months and months of complete boredum accented my moments of sheer Terror." And so that is how many of us found it. We were not in Contact with the enemy constantly, we didn't get shot at every day. Some days we could even appreciate a beutiful sun set or a swim in the local river. We had friends of all races, and ethnic backgrounds. When did you have a friend who's life might literally depend on you at any minute and vica versa. How good a friend do you think he would have to be? How much would you trust that person. You don't have the same relationship with your own brother in a non combat environment. How much does it hurt if he doesn't make it.
