Please tell me about the *good* things that happened in Vietnam

From Rosemary Thornton, on Thu, 16 Jul 1998 21:01:17 GMT (in response to: Vietnam Portfolio -- Military)

I'm a freelance writer living in the St. Louis area and I am working on a book about Vietnam Veterans and their experiences in the war.

I'm trying to locate Veterans who'd be willing to contribute *their own stories* in *their own words* for this book. The working title is "God's Presence in Vietnam" and it will be a compilation of testimonies and stories from Veterans who felt divinely protected and/or directed in the midst of this war.

My goal in compiling this information is to help heal the wounds so many veterans are still struggling with. And, to put on record, for all time, the healing power of God's grace in Vietnam.

I've read a handful of inspirational stories about Vietnam Vets in magazines and books, but I've always wanted to read a book devoted to these "war stories." And many veterans have told me they too would like to read such a book.

I'm writing to ask for your advice and your help. Any suggestions on how I can spread the word to veterans most quickly? And do you know of anyone who'd be willing to contribute a story to this project?

The dark and ugly side of this war has been stated again and again. I think it's time we all went to work to heal the wounds caused by this war. I hope this book will help.
