Military

I agree with Arash Steindamm about the silent bob text

As a objective human I have to say that the war in Vietnam was wrong, but every smart person knows that the world isn't black and white.

First of all, the Americans shouldn't have been there. But who
was going to defend "the free world" then? If this was the only reason, America had all rights to be there.
But there were also economical and military reasons (the Sovjets were getting closer).
Somebody had to take responsability.

In this semi-civil war the psychologic pressure on the American soldiers was extremely high.
They knew civilians where involved, and how do you fight an enemy without a face? Some civlians were enemies, others weren't.
A psychological breakdown was never far away.

Next to separated cases of serious misbehaviour, there were also wrong-informated pilots who dropped bombs on the wrong places, and ofcourse, officers who have wrong orders.

Abuse of power, or just mental breakdown. Or furious hate??
Who will say???

Victims are the Vietnamese people and the American soldier who didn't stand behind every order he was given.

Psychological means, wrong orders, wrong information and bad cooperation and coordination of the different armies(Navy, Air Force,...) made this war into a mess, where nobody can be responsabel for.
I'm only 17 and I'm living in a "neutral" Belgium, and I now this view contains faults that I'm not aware of, but this is the view that I formed with articles, books and movies, pro- and contra-war.
I tried to make this objective, altough I live in a democratic, by America influenced country.
