Catalog Description: 

An introduction to the history of collective bargaining in the public sector as well as the salient techniques of collective bargaining. Emphasis is placed on developing those skills a future school administrator must process to be an effective participant in the pu blic sector bargaining arena. 3 credits

 

Overview: 

Emphasis will be placed on the process of applying theoretical frames to the school environment.
Course Objectives: 

1. Students will be able to identify the historical influences effecting the collective bargaining process in public and private education.

2. Students will be able to demonstrate the knowledge, understanding and judgment regarding appropriate negotiating stategies as a participant in collective bargaining simulations.

3. Students will be able to identify the forces at work which may influence and modify the nature and structure of the collective bargaining process.

4. Given the skills and dispositions related to the course, all students will demonstrate mastery of each skill and disposition as demonstrated by their performance on teacher made evaluation instruments.
