Final Reflection

Providing artifacts or examples of connections made during a field experience with families can suggest commitment and interest in helping students learn.

During a field experience a prospective teacher may be able to arrange to do some of these activities:

Observation or participation in a family conference

Creation or contribution to family newsletter

Participation in Back-to-School Night

Development/delivery of training materials for families

Participation in a special exhibition, e.g., "Math Night"

Assistance at computer workshops, GED sessions or other programs designed to enhance skills of family members.

Portfolio materials from these activities could be a mutually agreed plan for a student, a description of activities, statements about relationships with families in philosophy, or training materials.
