One teaching quality that has become increasingly valued has been the capacity to monitor student learning and adjust lessons when needed. Some of these basic modifications to help students learn can be applied to lessons as appropriate.

 + Extend time limit to do task
 + Give directions orally and in writing
 + Give limited amount of material  
 + Provide shorter explanations
 + Use webbing to introduce ideas
 + Use overhead with color pens
 + Relate subject to personal experience
 + Use manipulatives
 + Give verbal and nonverbal responses
 + Use calculators to check answers
 +
Arrange peer support
 + Seat in a quiet work area
 + Tape record reading/testing material
