Biographical Information

I am originally from Havana,Cuba. I have lived and studied in the Caribbean, Europe and the United States. I obtained my doctorate from Cornell University and taught at the University of Kansas before coming to Seton Hall University. I am currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Modern Languages, where I teach courses in Spanish language and literature. I have specialized in Golden Age Spanish Prose, but my present interest is in contemporary Cuban cultural studies.  My current research project is on the configuration of a national identity in Cuban literature in the Nineteenth and Twentieth centuries.
