Requirements for Personal Pages
Minimum Content
- Page author or page owner's name.
- Mechanism for contacting the page author /site maintainer such as a "mailto:" link.
- Review/update all pages at least once per year.
Update Information
Web sites should be updated regularly and frequently. Dated material should be removed as soon as possible.
Other Requirements
- Account ceases when user leaves University.
- Instructional material should be on departmental page so it can be supported.
Permitted on Personal Web Page
- May link to commercial sites only when the links do not imply University endorsement of the product or services and when the link is consistent with the University’s mission.
- Publishing information on the WWW may not be used in any manner prohibited by law or disallowed by licenses, contracts, copyrights, copyrighted material or University regulations.
- Groups or individuals are responsible for the information that they publish.
- Web pages are expected to reflect the university community’s regard for ethical behavior including following copyright and other national and local laws.
- There is a limit of 150 MB of space on the server for your web page(s).
Prohibited on all Seton Hall web pages including personal web pages:
- Personal Web pages may not use the University logo or design elements in such a way as would imply that their personal pages are an institutional resource of the University.
- Personal web accounts may not be used to create web pages primarily for personal business or personal gain, except as permitted by other University policies.
- Advertising, libelous materials, and any communications which violate applicable laws and regulations are prohibited and will be removed.
- Pages that interfere with the management and operation of SHU’s educational mission may be removed at the discretion of the webmaster.

- Personal home page publishers are responsible for their own Web
pages. This includes responsibility for avoiding copyright
violations, complying with local, state, and federal laws and other
University, and keeping the information up to date.
University Search Engine Coverage.
- Personal pages are not supported by the University Search Engine, therefore use for classroom supplemental materials is discouraged
- Unit heads are responsible for deciding whether or not to link to personal home pages from official department pages
Safety
- Take care telling people over the web where you are and when, so that you do not put yourself in danger.
- The Pirate web server now supports FrontPage extensions and you can choose which kind of account you would prefer.
