Downloading Windows 3.1 Dialup Software
- Make sure you have the name and password ready that was sent to you
after you filled out the Dialup Account request form, and that you
are using a Seton Hall computer.
- You can not download the software unless you are using a Seton
Hall computer on campus
Download Instructions - Please Follow Carefully !
- Before downloading, prepare your floppy disk:
- Insert a formatted, empty, high-density diskette into the
drive of the computer you are using. Use the file manager to create
three directories on that diskette, named
TRUMPET,
FTP, and
TELNET, repectively.
- When you click on the first software package to download (below
...), a window will come up, asking you to enter a username and password:
- Use the name and password sent to you via email (all in lower
case only). This is not the same as your personal LAN account
name and password !
- After entering the correct username and password, a window will
come up, asking you where to save the file:
- click on 'Save file' and select drive A: Make sure you have the
floppy disk prepared as described in the first step. Save the file into
the directories as explained next to the file you are downloading.
- Expand the files you just downloaded
- Each of the three files just downloaded is in compressed form, and
needs to be 'expanded' before it can be used.
- Use the file manager to double-click on the file
trumpet.exe in the A:\TRUMPET directory. Then
delete the file trumpet.exe to conserve disk space
- Use the file manager to double-click on the file
ftp.exe in the A:\FTP directory. Then
delete the file ftp.exe to conserve disk space
- Use the file manager to double-click on the file
telnet.exe in the A:\TELNET directory. Then
delete the file telnet.exe to conserve disk space
Congratulations - you now have the software needed for your dialup
connection. Please
return to the instructions
for installing the software.
